Queen vs King Bed: Which Size Is Right?

A queen mattress is 60" x 80". A king mattress is 76" x 80". A California king is 72" x 84". Here's how to pick.

Choose a queen if your bedroom is under 12x12, you sleep alone or with a partner and don't move much, or you're outfitting a guest room.

Choose a king if your bedroom is 12x12 or larger, you share the bed with a partner and want extra space, or you sleep with kids or pets.

Choose a California king if you're taller than 6' and want the extra 4 inches of length. It's narrower than a standard king so it also works in longer, narrower rooms.
